Seven Mauviel collections are fully induction-compatible straight out of the box: M'6 S, M'COOK, M'COOK B, M'Elite, M'Elite B, M'URBAN 4, and M'STEEL. Traditional copper lines — M'Heritage (M'150, M'200, M'250), M'Tradition, M'3 S, and M'Passion — are not natively magnetic, but every one of them works on induction with the Mauviel magnetic interface disk.

Why traditional copper doesn't work on induction
An induction cooktop doesn't produce heat itself. It generates a high-frequency magnetic field, and that field induces electrical currents directly in the base of the pan — but only if the base contains a ferromagnetic metal, such as magnetic stainless steel or iron. Copper is one of the best thermal conductors of any cookware metal, but it is not ferromagnetic: the induction field passes through a traditional copper pan without generating any heat. The same is true of aluminum. That is why classic copper cookware — including our M'Heritage, M'Tradition, and M'Passion lines — cannot activate an induction burner on its own.
How M'6 S brings real copper to induction
The M'6 S collection solves this with a six-layer construction, engineered and handcrafted in Villedieu-les-Poêles, Normandy. From the outside in: a polished copper exterior, three successive layers of aluminum, a ferromagnetic stainless steel layer — the layer that reacts with the induction field and generates heat — and an 18/10 brushed stainless steel interior. The magnetic layer activates the cooktop, while the substantial copper and aluminum body spreads that heat rapidly and evenly across the base and up the sidewalls. Already own M'Heritage? Use the induction interface disk
If you cook on induction and own M'Heritage — or any traditional Mauviel copper — you don't need to replace your cookware. The Mauviel 1830 M'PLUS magnetic interface disc (8.6-in) sits between the burner and your pan: the induction field heats the magnetic stainless steel disk, and the disk transfers that heat to the copper above it. Place the disk on the burner, set your pan on top, and start at a moderate power level — copper conducts so efficiently that about 60% of maximum power is usually plenty. Expect slightly slower response than native induction cookware, since the disk adds a heat-transfer step.

Does copper cookware work on induction cooktops?
Traditional copper cookware does not work on induction on its own, because copper is not ferromagnetic and cannot activate the burner's magnetic field.
